Creating a "Chicken Soup Book" like book for Cancer patients, particularly Breast Cancer patients. This book will inspire, encourage and show the true beauty through struggle, fighting for ones life and making the final decision to always live, by any means necessary.
The book will be a compilation of poems, short stories, essays and artwork targeted to talk about journey of breast cancer. This book will give us the perspective of the beginning, middle, end and everything in between.
We are looking for writings that will capture feelings that will make one understand, we want writings from breast cancer patients, survivors, children and spouses, friends and outsiders. We want the whole picture, but at the same time just a snippet of the whole picture.
The deadline for submission of entries is May 1st. The timeline for this project is to have the book formatted and ready for the printer in late June, early July. Then begin promotions for three months, showcase and sell books to help raise money for breast cancer research as well as, as promotion for the writers and artists involved in this project, and of course to help anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer(this includes men as well).
I will be partnering with various organizations revolving around this book. My plan is to partner with local and national breast cancer foundations to help with national distribution. In the month of October there we will be at every event possible in my region promoting and selling the book.

Our selection process is fair, unbiased, and based on a level playing field. We are committed to showcasing high quality, exciting visual artwork of various media (If you do video art please contact us if there is enough interest we may be able to formulate a feature for these pieces of work) and the selected winning artists will surely be proud to appear in this outstanding, high quality, annual publication.
Selected artists work will be displayed in the book in a few different ways depending on the artists’ award. All artwork in the book will be reproduced as closely as possible to the winning entry that was received for the competition. Therefore, we highly recommend and insist that you send properly sized high resolution files, (240ppi) for best print quality. (See Artwork Image Submission Requirements below). Writers are artists in the book will have the option of purchasing a copy(ies) of the book at a discounted price(Contact for more infomation with the subject of Business Opportunity). This juried competition is for the publication awards below and open to contemporary visual artists worldwide. (Note: We reserve the right to adjust awards and space allotments listed below.)
Eligibility:
Open to all visual artists 18 years of age or older. All the various mediums will be accepted such as: painting, drawing, graphic art, photography, mixed media, fiber, print making, sculpture, glass, metal, pottery, jewelry, etc. However, only one medium per entry form, but as many images of your work as you choose to submit, for that medium. If you wish to enter two different mediums (ex. painting and mixed media, or sculpture and photography, etc.), you are required to submit an entry form and fee for each particular medium you enter.
Artwork Image Submission Requirements:
Artwork images may be submitted by digital files or photographs up to 8" x 10". All artwork images should be clearly and neatly labeled with the artist's name, title of work, medium and dimensions. The same information should also be listed clearly on the entry form. *ALL WORK SUBMITTED MUST BE COPYRIGHTED*
• Digital Files on a CD (Preferred Method):
Digital artwork image files will be accepted on CD (NO DVDs please) and should be readable by a PC and named in conjunction with the actual artwork title. All images should be large enough to fill an 8"x 8" space and high resolution – 240ppi – jpeg or tiff file format. All images should be saved in the Adobe RGB color space. All jpegs should be saved at quality 10. All artwork image files should represent your work accurately and honestly. The disc should be clearly labeled with the artist's name and number of images contained on the disc. Digital discs must be accompanied by a printed paper copy of the contents (including images) on the CD and labeled with the artist's name, title of work, medium and dimensions for each artwork. This printed paper copy is required by the jury.
Return of Submissions:
We do not return CDs. However, if you submit photographs, you MUST include a Self-Addressed-Stamped-Envelope (SASE), with sufficient postage and legibly addressed, if you want your material returned. Artists from outside the USA must include International Reply Coupons, instead of stamps, if you want your material returned. (We are not responsible for any damage incurred during shipment) If an artist fails to include a SASE or International Reply Coupons, we will assume they do not want their submission material returned and therefore, it will not be returned.
Artist Notification:
All artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance via EMAIL. (If, for some reason, you do not have an email address, only the winning artists will be notified via US Mail.)
Deadline:
All entries must be postmarked by May 1st 2012.
